A practical mobile-first website checklist

Small screens deserve thoughtful experiences. Start with the tasks your customers need most.
Make the primary task visible without requiring a long scroll. Use a clear heading and a specific call to action.
Keep navigation predictable. Use readable type, generous touch targets and labels that describe where a link goes.
Test on a narrow screen, with a keyboard, and with enlarged text. Check forms, error messages and menus as carefully as the homepage.
Give images explicit dimensions and serve only what the page needs. Review performance on a slower connection before launch.
